Exploration

All of my life, I have been exploring.

What happens to people at the edges of the map can be life-changing. We are transformed by the intensity and alienation of being forced beyond our expectations. Wild places challenge us to survive, and in surviving, we discover more than we thought possible about ourselves.

Going beyond seeking these terrible, beautiful experiences, I have led and trained others to survive and thrive in these environments.

My Story

Expedition Experience

2025 - Medical Officer and Technical Expert, Meili-II Space Analogue, Scotland

Over six months, I trained and joined a six-person crew to survive unaided in grueling coastal Northern Scottish conditions for two weeks. As a scientific simulation of extraterrestrial exploration, the team would have no resupply, limited communication, and would target the most hostile conditions. The mission was a success, with all team members proving adaptable, confident, and supportive. Of particular note was the sense of camaraderie and technical expertise of this crew.

2025-2027 - Expedition Lead, Oxford University Centennial Arctic Expeditions, Norway

I serve as one of four Expedition Leads in the OUEC100 project, which will send six expeditions to Norway, Iceland, and Greenland over 2025-2027. This massive logistical undertaking incorporates academics and exploration professionals from all three host countries and the UK, and training a new generation of explorers to handle arctic conditions.

2025 - Support, Oxford University Mountaineering Club: Cairngorm Expedition

Despite an untimely surgery leaving me unable to tackle the higher peaks, I was able to play a support role for 50 mountaineers. Over the course of five days, I scouted lowland recovery walks, consulted on physical and psychological first aid events, and cooked dinners for the entire group.

2023 - Mission Control Researcher, Meili-I Space Analogue, Scotland

I served as a mission logistics and emergency response assistant to support the expedition team. The support team was in the field alongside the expedition team, ensuring their safety and efficiency. This included cartography, weather forecasting, route scouting, and research assistance.

2022 - Solo Bikepacking the Perimeter of Iceland

I completed a solo bikepacking expedition of Iceland's perimeter in just over two weeks. This came with significant environmental and health challenges, all of which needed to be managed independently in the field. No serious injuries sustained.
