Evaluation of NRC’s USAID BHA Funded Programs in Rakhine and South East Myanmar
Since 2008, NRC has responded to man-made and natural crises in Myanmar. Between March 2021 and June 2023, NRC implemented three projects funded by BHA and USAID, initially in Rakhine State and later expanding to Southeast Myanmar to assist families facing displacement. In a challenging environment, collecting reliable data for evaluation is difficult. Meraki Labs adapted to changing security conditions to gather essential information for assessing the BHA initiative, while our collaboration with Smile Myanmar led to effective strategies for navigating security challenges.

4Mi Data Collection on Mixed Migration Movements to and through Türkiye
Turkey has a long-standing role as a country of origin, destination, and transit for migrants. Recent regional instability has intensified migration trends, particularly among Afghans seeking alternatives following the August 2021 events. Ongoing crises in Iran, Syria, and Somalia drive further migration, compounded by the earthquake at the Turkey-Syria border. Meraki Labs supported a comprehensive data collection initiative on Afghan displacement to Turkey, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative methods, including 1,330 surveys. Collaborating with local researchers and organizations ensured high-quality data, helping humanitarian actors understand the protection challenges faced by Afghan migrants, especially regarding forced returns.
